Dogpatch's Coffee Bar Since 2006
In 2006, the Piccino restaurant opened on 22nd Street in Dogpatch and quietly became one of San Francisco's most beloved neighborhood spots. The food is seasonal. The room is warm. The ethos was simple: good ingredients, done well, for the people who live here.
In 2012, the same group opened Piccino Coffee Bar right next door. We brought the same thinking to coffee. Which meant finding the roasters who cared as much about the bean as we cared about the cup. Piccino was the first commercial client for Blue Bottle Coffee. Then for Sightglass. We've been doing this long enough to recognize the ones worth backing early — and right now, that's Bassline Coffee out of Oakland, founded by Brad Katz and built on the belief that great coffee should be both memorable and accessible.
The coffee bar is also a bakery, a prepared foods counter, and on Friday evenings, a dog park with better drinks. Everything is made in-house. The pastries change with the season. The coffee program evolves as Bassline does. The neighborhood has changed a lot since 2006. This place hasn't had to.

About Bassline Coffee
Bassline Coffee is an Oakland-based roaster founded by Brad Katz. When his previous business shut down during the pandemic, Brad transitioned from home roasting to building something real — a roastery with a full spectrum of offerings, from fruity light roasts to a true specialty Italian espresso dark, all sourced with an emphasis on farmer relationships and flavor that holds up cup after cup.
